About Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal (BNE)

Address: Terminal Building Brisbane Airport, Terminal Building, Brisbane, 4007, Qld

  Getting around

Once considered a quiet riverside town, Brisbane is now the bustling capital city of Queensland and home to Australia’s third busiest airport (BNE). You’ll find a comprehensive selection of airport car rental desks located on Level 1 of the domestic terminal, where you’ll find a proper selection of major car hire brands such as Budget, Enterprise, and Thrifty.

It’s a breezy 20-minute drive between the airport and Brisbane’s Central Business District, unless you’re traveling during rush hours. The fastest route into the city is via Airport Drive, which connects to the Airport Link and the M3, which will take you into town. There’s a toll charge to access the Airport Link — as well as certain other roads in Brisbane — which cannot be paid in cash. Most Brisbane Airport car rental agencies offer toll payment programs but make sure it’s included in your rental agreement. Otherwise, you can purchase a Go Via pass online in advance of your trip.

Keep in mind that Australian roads and vehicles are right-hand drive, so it may be best to avoid cars with manual transmission if you’re used to left-hand driving. Also, visitors will English language driver’s licenses are free to drive in Australia. All others must acquire an International Driver’s Permit from their home countries before driving in Australia.

  Choosing your car

Brisbane is the gateway to a wide range of destinations, so it’s important to consider your agenda when choosing your car. And you may have specific preferences for make, model, size and color. Fortunately, Brisbane Airport car rental options are plentiful.

Compact and economy options such as the Kia Rio and Toyota Corolla are best suited for city driving. If you need a little more room for baggage and passengers, an intermediate vehicle such as the Hyundai i30 is good for urban cruising, too. Travelers heading out to the Gold Coast may want to rent a Mitsubishi X-trail SUV in order to get a better view of the road. And of course, groups and families will find a number of 7-9 seater options available — the Kia Grand Carnival is a popular choice.
