Apart from exploring the beautiful city of Antwerp, there is the town of Diest, situated in the northeast of the Hageland region; the picturesque and historic canal town, Lier; the impressive town of Mechelen that lies between Brussels and Antwerp on the Dijle river, south from Antwerp; Sint-Niklaas, in the province of East Flanders between the rivers Scheldt and Durme and Oudenaarde, the city of art, located on the left bank of the river Scheldt.
Antwerp Airport is usually a short 10 minutes’ drive to the city. However, you might find traffic jams on the ring road during rush hour periods.
The airport has one passenger terminal with basic facilities. The information desks of the rent a car companies are inside the Arrivals hall. The rental car parking area is located at Parking 2 (P Premium).
In the city you will find mostly paid parking, with parking meters or automatic parking machines. However, you can park free at the park and ride (P+R) on the outskirts of the city, or in one of the cheaper public car parks, and use the city’s public transport.
