About Saint John International Airport (YSJ)
Address: 4180 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John (nb), E2n 1l7, Nb
Saint John International Airport (YSJ) is located 15 km (9.2 mi) east northeast of central Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. On-site airport car rentals are situated within the terminal and provided by Alamo, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Thrifty, and Europcar.
Two things stand out in regards to the city of Saint John, which is never spelled St. John, by the way. First of all, getting around by car is almost without hassle — it’s like the city was designed with the automobile in mind. Traffic generally isn’t a problem and parking is ample. The city is bisected by the St. John River, making short work of orientation issues. Most of central Saint John is laid out on a very plain rectangular grid of streets. And of course, the Trans-Canada Highway runs straight through the middle of town, so rural excursions are a matter of: Which way do you want to go?
The second outstanding feature of navigating Saint John involves the distances between attractions and popular destinations. It’s 9 km (5.4 mi) from downtown Saint John to Irving Nature Park, and 19 km (11.4 mi) to Mispec Beach. With very little public transit outside of central Saint John, visitors will need to rent a car in order to reach any spot that’s not within walking distance of King’s Square.
Choosing your car
Whatever your travel plans may include, Saint John Airport car rental providers have you covered. We all know that Toyota compact and Hyundai economy cars are great for short trips around the city. But in a wide-open space like Saint John, intermediate Volkswagen and fullsize Chevrolet 4-door sedans give you an option to get out on the highway for longer trips. A midsize Ford SUV is ideal for rural driving on questionable roads, and a fullsize Nissan SUV takes command of all terrain. But in the end, if you’re leading a travel group or taking a family vacation in the wilderness, the Dodge 7-9 seater minivan was designed for efficient use of space.
