About Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
Address: 1 Nassau Cir, Kansas City, 64153 , Mo, Mo
The Kansas City International Airport is located 15 miles (24 km) outside of Kansas City, Missouri. The airport has always been under civilian control, unlike some airports that served a military function prior to functioning in a more open capacity. (MCI) is so named because the airport used to be known as the Mid-Continent International Airport. Popular airlines that fly into and out of Kansas City International Airport are Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines. The increasing popularity of the airport as a destination in the Midwest means that airport car rentals will be increasingly common.
Kansas City is located near the border of Missouri with the state of Kansas, and it is the largest city in Missouri, as well as one of the most populous cities in the country, so a car rental is helpful in navigating. This city was originally established as a port near where the Missouri River meets the Kansas River. The city is over 300 square miles and includes a range of neighborhoods, such as the River Market District.
Once you've picked up your Kansas City airport car rental, you can head out to sample some of Kansas City's world-renowned cuisine, namely Kansas City-style barbecue. If you're not hungry or if barbecue isn't for you, there are still plenty of things for you to enjoy in the city. It'll take you approximately 30 minutes in normal traffic to get from the airport to downtown Kansas City.
If you're interested in history, stop by and pay your respects at the National World War I Museum and Memorial, which has the largest collection of WWI memorabilia and artifacts within the United States. If you're traveling with kids, you might want to take your car hire to Worlds of Fun, an amusement park, or the Kansas City Zoo.
Choosing your car
You have lots of options with choosing your car at the Kansas City International Airport car rental. Multiple rental car companies operate out of the airport, such as Enterprise, and you can rent a car with a variety of features. If you're traveling alone, a compact car might make the most sense, but a minivan could be handy if you have multiple adults or even children along for the ride.
Tips and advice for renting a car at Kansas City Airport
When you drive in Kansas City, as in the rest of the United States, you'll drive on the right side of the road rather than the left.
